Johnson County Schools
Message from the Superintendent of Johnson County Schools

Parents, We are working very hard to make sure that your students and our staff are safe when schools open. We are planning for students to be on campus September 8, 2020. We are using CDC and local Health Department guidelines to help in this effort. We will have a monitor on all buses to take students' temperature before they get on the bus. We will have someone taking the temperature of every person that enters our school buildings. Our teachers will be required to wear a mask and our students are encouraged to wear a mask especially while riding the bus. Our bus drivers and teachers will have a face shield to wear and will be encouraged to wear it for their safety.  Our students will be on a normal school day. We will try to limit all large group gatherings and keep students 6 feet apart the best we can. Some students will eat lunch in their classrooms as needed. This will keep us from having a large number of students in the lunchroom.  If your child is sick or has a fever please do not allow them to come to school. We are more concerned with the health and well being of our students and staff than how many days they miss. The students will not be penalized if they miss because of health concerns. We will make sure that all buses, classrooms, and bathrooms are continuously sanitized. We will have hand sanitizer for everyone that rides a bus or enters the school building. We are not requiring students to bring school supplies from home. We will provide everything the student needs for school. We will have an online virtual school option for the students that are not comfortable coming back to regular school at this time. We are posting a form on our website for parents to complete. These students will not be penalized in any way for participating in online learning. We are navigating through uncharted waters at this time. We are making plans with the information and data that we have at this time. We are asking that you be patient with us as we try to do what is best for our students and staff. We may have to change the way we are doing school if our information changes. I have tried to communicate with our staff, parents, students, and community throughout this pandemic. There have been many plans discussed over the past 3 months. We have had our guidance changed several times. Many of these ideas were just discussions to see if it would be best for our students.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact Eddie Morris, Superintendent or the building level administrator where your child attends.
